Welcome

International Symposium of Precision Medicine Based on Liquid Biopsies “from Detection to Dissection”

Dear colleagues and friends,

It is our great pleasure to inform you that we will be hosting the FIRST INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM on LIQUID BIOPSIES 2016 (ISLB).The ISLB-2016 will take place on September 15th-16th, 2016 in the city of Granada, Spain.

Over the past few years, liquid biopsies have grown in importance as they can be used for genetic and phenotypic characterization of cancer tissues. In addition, their non-invasive nature allows repeat sampling to monitor genetic changes over time during tumor progression and treatments. The ISLB-2016 will provide a platform for presentations, discussions and planning across all aspects of cancer monitoring, progression and clinical management.

Researchers, public health practitioners, clinicians and life science professionals should not miss this opportunity to discuss, debate and address key issues which have an impact on cancer.

We invite you to submit your abstract to be considered by our Advisory Committee for presentation at the ISLB-2016. Many experts in this field, all over the world, have already accepted to participate and share their points of view and experience on this very hot topic in Cancer Research.

Covering a two-day span, the GRANADA-ISLB 2016 includes a plenary session plus six sessions divided by topics and 3 mini-sessions, as well as a visit to GENYO (please see the Preliminary Program for details).

Finally, we should not finish this invitation without mentioning our city, Granada; this is one of the most visited places in the world with beautiful monuments as the Alhambra, the Cathedral or the Albayzin neighbourhood, not to mention the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Alpujarra or the Mediterranean coast and beaches.

We look forward to welcoming you all,

Conclusions

The main goal of the “First International Symposium of Precision Medicine based on Liquid Biopsy” was to evaluate the state of the art related to  the implementation and clinical usefulness of new prongnostic and predictive  biomarkers based on the liquid biopsy technologies.
The symposium was attended by approximately 150  professionals and speakers (clinical practicioners and research scientists interested in the field), coming from 7  different countries.

Senior researchers and young investigators presented, reviewed and vividly discussed important new developments in the field of clinical biomarkers of cancer, with the goal of accelerating biomarker research and their clinical implementation.

The conclusions of this symposium were discussed at a final round table where; in this context, the "International Society of Liquid Biopsy - ISLB" was created, with the objective of combining efforts between different clinical & research groups.
The main and general conclussion is that we all must promote and facilitate the  use of liquid biopsy in those areas where its usefulness has been proved as a world wide reality in the clinical practice to, first, better support physicians and, second but even most important, to better help and treat patients.

We want to take this opportunity like to thank the different speakers and attendees, and very especially to different companies that supported this special and important event.

Looking forward to see you all soon and to welcome new participants in future events, yours,

The Organizing Committee
